I left town on Interstate 80, hit old highway 40 by donner lake. Headed towards tahoe on 89. After stopping at the donner memorial state park museum. Plan was to take the shortcut over to highway 88. I couldnt remember where it took off from. I was too stubborn to stop and look at the map. This whole time it was rain/snow mix most of the way. Anyways, I took 207 over the kingsbury grade into nevada and over to highway 88. As soon as I hit 88 I was looking for a campsite as I was losing daylight. Saw a coyote at one spot I was looking at.

Thought maybe I could get out of the rain by going downhill. Wound up camping at the middle fork of the cosumnes river at probably 5500'. Rained like crazy. Good thing I thought something like this might happen and I had food I didnt mind cooking in the camper. Warmed up some carnita mix and had tacos (pre made tacos, yeah, I woulnd't normally but we make sacrifices in november).

It was cold. The heater wouldnt turn on. I tried about a dozen times. The fan would come on but the automatic lighter wasnt firing. Then, while the fan was on, i switched the thermostat on and off and for some reason that made the igniter fire and it worked fine the rest of the night.

Lucky it worked since I went to be with a wet dog (he insisted on sniffing every inch within a quarter mile before he came in) . Around six in the morning the dog wakes me up. I'm not ready to get up but I do notice something different. Its white outside. The rain changed to snow.

I take the dog for a walk while I'm waiting for the water to boil. Meet a guy looking for his two dogs who have run off while when he got up to pee. Theres almost no one in the forest, I have the campground to myself. Odds are poor I'd see anyone.

After my coffee I break camp and start to head out. Lo and behold I see two dogs trotting through the campground. I realize I forgot to ask where the guy was camped. I head upstream thinking that might be where he is. What else do I do? As luck would have I find the guy in his truck looking for his dogs. Just to make sure I follow him back to the campground and sure enough he finds his dogs there. Yay.

I head back up 88 to to 89, 89 to 50, head over towards wrights lake, turn towards ice house reservoir then take the road leading to georgetown but not before stopping at uncle tom's cabin. If you're ever in the neighborhood you must stop at uncle tom's.

By the time I got home I had about 450 miles on on the truck. The new bridgestone dueler at revo's performed extremely well in the rain and snow, very happy with that purchase.

Oh, the reason for no pics. My camera is fubar. I had brand new energizer lithiums with me. They lasted long enough to change date and thats it. /sigh
I need to contact samsung and see what they say. From now on I"ll carry a cheapo disposable for a backup at the very least.

Thanks for posting...great news you found the dogs. I'm not sure what I'd do if mine ran off ..fortunately she never wanders more than a couple hundred feet
from a campsite. Wrights Lake, Ice House and Union Valley bring back lots of fond memories. My kids were raised camping in that area..We had lots of good times fishing and motorcycle riding back in our tent trailer days. We usually made two or three trips a year to that area. Haven't been there in 20 years..bet it's changed a bit...
