Anyone have one of these rigs or experience with them? I'm looking at an older Ranger II via pictures and email and it has these on it. I'm wondering how much room (clearance) there is when its actually encasing the rear taillights on the truck? Also what is the make up of the "diagonal" portion (just aluminum skin or is there framework in there)? I see EROD has a camper with the rear taillights but not the diagonal portion, I'm wondering if that was a modification or straight from the factory? I'm assuming if its just skin it could get trimmed back somewhat easily, frame work would be a bigger issue perhaps. I'd assume removing the taillight portion all together to create the "new" style rear on the camper would require extensive modification to the back end framework.

Generally trying to get a feel for what limitations those wings bring to the camper and how much of them can be overcome. Such as right now you wouldn't be able to use use the camper on a long bed with it up against the cab. Are certain truck boxes going to be rubbing on the "diagonal" and not on others?

Anyone have some insight on this one?

Edit: Here is a picture of what I am talking about.

I will reply as soon as I have time

It is an easy modification to remove most of the wrap around on the rear of the camper.

I sent you an email. Glad to hear there is relatively easy potential for modification. Looking forward to details. :thumb:

Hi,
I have the same camper, mine is a 98. I removed the wings after I bought it, pretty easy. I measured and cut the skin on the outside to match the depth of the outside of the wings. I cut the skin with a metal blade on my side-grinder. After removing the skin you just unbolt the frame for the wings and the rest comes off. After that you will need to re-attach the trim, I was able to use the pieces from the edge of the wing. I had to buy a short piece of channel to continue the trim to the new corner. I can send some pics of the finished camper if you want. I had it on a 97 Toyota T-100 and now its on a 08 Tacoma, fit fine on both, the Tacoma needed a spacer under the camper to lift it a little. I made that from strips of 3/4 inch plywood. Hope this helps.
