Hayduke...

Appreciate all that you can share about awnings....Sorry about the family. Hope things get better for you. Take your time, as this is just fun stuff for most of us.

When you do get to the awning, though, we'd love to see how you mounted it to the FWC. Of course, the obligatory stored, opening, and opened shots are always welcome.

Thanks so much

Hayduke....Really sorry to hear about your pending loss and you are in my prayers and thoughts. Tough business, this passing on of loved ones.

Messing with the camper may be a welcome respite now that you are home.

As it turns out we turned back from our proposed Mogollon moto trip due to high winds and generally poopy weather. On the way home I managed to run over my foot with the sidecar tugs footpeg and bollocksed it up. Off the foot for a few days with looming projects....it will force me to relax and watch DVDs. Frustrating...although I can watch this group now for good stuff.

Well, I didn't get the camper on today, so no awning pics. Supposed to rain tommorrow, so we'll see. I'd also like to post some pics to davinskis custom insides thread. That is a great thread so far. Again, Thanks to all with the kind words regarding my families situation. I'll get busy posting when I have time. In the meantime, keep the dialog going. It's a great way to escape.

In case you care and missed it, I have a few pics of the awning on a new thread. They don't show much detail, but I had limited time to mess around with it today. Hope it helps anyone interested in this type of accessory.

Anybody have any input on the fiamma 35 vs. 45?  other than the size and price differences…is the 35 much lighter?  maybe easier to deploy?  thanks

Erod, every now and again I look at this forum for awning conversations. I have a one year old Hawk with a fiamma 45. I can't stand it. It's so noisy going down dirt roads or even bumpy asphalt. FWC has looked at twice and they basically shrug their shoulders. I would get rid of it but it's expensive for them to remove it and seal the holes. FWC has been very helpful with me in all other aspects. I was surprised they didn't stand behind their product.

Just bought the Roam Adventures 6.5' awning to use for the rear of my NTM Hawk.  Should be here in a couple days.  After I get the mounting figured out I'll post some pics.

Has anyone had any luck making brackets to attach to the jack mounts for an awning?

You can make your own out of aluminum or steel angle bar that attaches to the jack brackets, or these might work for you if you have an 8 ft. ARB awning. These brackets will work on any FWC "slide-in" model (except the Grandby).
