We love our Northstar TC650, but the sink and countertop are pure junk. I’m going to replace both, likely building it myself.
Do any of you have countertop material or small sink/faucet recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

I made my countertop out of 3/4" plywood topped with Formica. (1/2" is probably sufficient, but I had the 3/4".)
No sink. If I ever need it, a 2 quart pot or the plastic bin I keep my cooking stuff in. My beagle makes dish washing easy.

I watched craigslist and bought some 1/4" corian.... great counter top replacement (on a FWC) and won't suffer from spilled liquids (coffee, water, tequila, etc. :) ).

Some folks have used the countertops you can buy from IKEA. might take a bit more work to cut down and finish, but they look nice.

Thanks for all the help! The Corian idea is most appealing...I'll try to find some.
It was dirt cheap (not sure what it came out of) and cutting, routering, etc. the holes for the sink and stove top was easy (ok, relatively easy).

Those do make a great dishwasher, don't they?

I found a scratch and dent sheet of countertop laminate at IKEA for ~$30. I think total size was about 3'x8'.

One corner edge was damaged but still able to get a counter and backsplash out of it. Easy to cut with a circular saw and jigsaw.

I may use the rest of the sheet for some sort of island style workbench

We call K9 pre-wash "French Dry Cleaning"
We will use acrylic countertop material Megonite brand like Corian brand to replace the swelling MDF and laminate. There is special treatment for heat sources like drop in cook top. Directions online. Local shops may seem off-cuts if you only need a small sheet. Typical ½" but also available in ¼" for walls / splash.

RIMG_0682.jpegepurposed the sink as under-mount. Turned sink sideways to allow deeper drawer past trap and moved faucet to corner. Plastic cutting board fits on hole. put raised edge / backsplash to contain water.

Thanks for the replies! I'm glad it worked. We love ours! The new stainless sink came with a custom fit cutting board and a drain rack for the bottom. Combined with the Corian, it really made our kitchen function and look a lot better.
