Measure the charging voltage before and after pressing the boost button on the boost dongle. If it does not increase to near 14.6 volts, then the dongle is defective or there may be a connection error with the dongle.

On my PD9130 charger, I press & hold the boost button to cycle thru the modes. It increases the charging voltage from near 13.6 volts to about 14.6 volts and the current rises to near 30. The booster will keep the charging voltage and current elevated for up to 4 hours.
Measure the charging voltage directly on the battery terminals.

Paul

Mine cycles between 2 modes. It is 14.6 ~15amps in “boost” and 13.6 ~3amps in float.

And I think I got my answer from a reviewer on etrailer regarding the PD-9130LV:

“ Installed and working well in my RV. The only CON is that it doesn't put out the full rated 30 Amps for very long. I fully drained my new SOK 100Ah LiFePO battery and ran a full charge cycle. I got 30 Amps for the first 20% but it dropped off steadily after that. I was hoping to get a full charge in 4hrs or less but it took almost 8Hrs for a full 100Ah charge.”

So I’ll only get 30amp from 0-20%. Well that is beyond useless to me. I have 2x100ah batts. Think I’ll be buying the Victron, and hope I get a REV 2, where I can manage the output better.

Good to know. How much current can your generator put out?

My little generator can do 7.5a A/C 120. I don’t know what the load is from the IP22. I used to use it all the time with the IOTA DLS-30 /IQ4 with no issues in eco mode. Super quiet Honda. Regardless, the Honda handles it no issued, so I cannot imagine it ills all that much.

So i just returned from an extended trip with the Hawk and my wife and dogs. First week wasn’t bad, I managed with solar. But during second week we camped at a spot with nothing but shade trees (NF) and couldn’t even use the solar suitcase. By 3rd day I decided to charge using the generator and the PD9130LV. I ended up having to start my truck to get things charged with the Orion, or I was gonna have the genset running for another 2 hours. The PD dropped to 10a when batts got close to charged. Too much generator time for my liking. I need to be able to charge at 30a!!!

We ended up moving the next day, and thankfully I topped off with the DCDC, because a cold front came through and we got into 14f temps over night. I am home now. Bought the IP22 Smart Charger 30a. Hopefully have it installed by weekend.

So I just got the VE IP22 30a AC/DC charger installed and setup. I did add a second fan, and can hear it running in bulk when charging at 30a, but it isn’t bad. Charger was only warm, in no way hot. Ran it through a cycle and am really happy with it. Plus it integrates with my VE network which has the MPPT and shunt on it also.

ANYONE WANT A PD9130LV?
