I haven’t posted for awhile as husband had prostate cancer, the aggressive type so we were stranded at home for 15 months. The radiation treatment plus drugs took a toll so guys, please take it seriously.

We left the Thursday after Labor Day and returned October 15. Looking back, it wasn’t the trip we planned mostly due to weather and the shorter driving times due to husband’s fatigue. But, we saw some amazing places and drove some interesting routes.

I have panic attacks in cities and on freeways so we avoided them by using local highways and gravel roads. I will just briefly describe some highlights,  not necessarily in chronological order, but in each state.

Idaho: Mary Minerva McCroskey state park, Elk Creek Reservoir, Lolo Pass Highway, Salmon River/Panther Creek/Morgan Creek roads, City of Rocks, Beaver Creek

Montana: USFS roads 373 and 451 off Lolo Pass Highway, Daley Mansion,

Utah: we were just in the very NW corner but enjoyed the Intercontinental RR area

Nevada: our Rockhounding area, Eureka, Clover Valley highway, Ruby and East Humboldt Ranges, Ruby Valley NWR, Harrison Pass Road, Angel Creek campground, wandering the lonely gravel roads between I80 and Highway 50

Oregon: Page Springs campground, Highway 395, Ukiah Dale State Scenic Corridor and campground, Devine Canyon,

Washington:

North Cascades Highway esp the Diablo Lake overlook, Klipchuck campground, the Palouse and its small towns

Here is the link for the photo album of this trip. Now, to plan for our next trip in May. Happy trails!
