We took ole Robert out for her Maiden voyage this past weekend (10-10-09). The plan was to do a quick and easy overnighter in Morro Bay at the Strand, a CA State park. We drove down HWY 1 from our house all the way through Big Sur into Morro Bay. Even without the new springs, the Taco handled great. We packed a ton of stuff to see what we need and dont need. We dont need the sheets and blankets. Our sleeping bags were quite fine, and zip together  . We made a quick stop thirty five miles south of Big Sur at Plaskett creek (Sand Dollar Beach) to go surf and it was a blast. Just Valerie and I, plus about seven kooks who didnt get in our way and one pro whom we were friends with. A real fun time. They were having a Jade festival there that weekend and we got lucky and found a place to park, so when we left for Morro Bay we started thinking we were not going to be lucky and find a camp spot at the Strand. When we finally did get there, we had a whole lot of sites to choose from. We got one by the bathroom and the path to the beach. We had to christen Robert by singing the old Willie Nelson song:"Whiskey River" and drinking "Old Bushmills" (our favorite for camping) B) . NOTHING went wrong. The refrigerator was easy to light, the battey worked great (though it only had to power two lights on occasion and the faucet pump). We were and are totally happy with this camper.
While we were there, a group of kids came by to visit the camp sites and one of them was dressed in a gorilla costume. I dont know what that was about but it added to the fun.
Here are a few pics if I can post them.DSCN0019.jpg DSCN0020.jpg DSCN0026.jpg DSCN0028.jpg DSCN0031.jpg DSCN0032.jpg DSCN0034.jpg

Yes Sun, they are. Our boards fit inside really easy when we go away from the camper. And at night with them way up on top, they should be hard to steal. Although, with my little step ladder, they may be hard to put back up after the top is raised. :o
