I just got my fast guns from an online purchase......I need to get a hook rigged to fit my 09 hawk as we leave for a month trip to AK. I found some 1/2 threaded J hooks. Used with the heavy weight caribiener (sp?, sorry)it will be touch and go to fit.. we will see. Has anyone done this mod and if so, what length and size hook did you put in?

Thanks for the help..

I put them on my 08 chevy, they work great. I used 1/2 eyebolts and just had to cut the threaded rod . I started with 8 inch ones and then cut to fit. Used the hardware the fast guns came with to attch them to the camper and truck. Don

Use 1/2 " j-bolts and two quick links per corner. Adjust each Fast Gun to fit each corner and mark them so they go back on the same corner after removing and reinstalling the camper. You will have to adjust them a couple of times to get the perfect fit. Also keep in mind, they do not have to be real tight, just a connection between bed and camper. After you spend time adjusting the fit, you will be happy you purchased them. They do not come loose on rough roads and make the installation or removal very fast. Good choice, should be offered at time of purchase of the camper instead of the turn buckles.

I used 6 inch j hooks, trimmed a bit and one caribiner (sp?) per corner. I had to loosen the eye bolts in the truck bed to get them on the eye bolts. Then tighten them again. Did not seem like a big deal, but doing it again I would have used 8 inch j hooks.

They arre pretty tight, you can wiggle them, but they are tight. No biggie in my mind.

By the way, people have pmed me and asked how much I paid----$69.00 per set of four stainless....

Ok where did you find the 1/2 inch hooks to attach the fast guns or did everyone use the turnbuckles. Terry

I used the turnbuckle hooks, but I also found some at Ace and some at my local ranch supply store. Unfortunately, they are too short to not need quick links too. Haven't found any longer than the turnbuckle ones.
