My '64 Alaskan has three interior lights, all which work when plugged into 110. I was told that the lights can also be used off battery power by just switching to 12 volt bulbs. I confirmed this on the user's manual. Does this mean I can simply screw in 12 volt LED lights and use them? Do they make 12 volt LED lights with the same male end as a standard household bulb?

Mine has 5 interior light fixtures 3 that work off of 120volts and 2 that work off the battery. The 12v ones can have the LED bulbs in them. the 120 volt ones I put in CFL bulbs because I wasn't sure of the proper or max. wattage.

LED's can be conformed to operate off any voltage...it depends on the configuration of the powering circuitry.

You can find 12v LED's and 120v LED's...each should be installed in the appropriate circuitry in the camper which conforms to 12v or 120v....LED's aren't cheap...be certain you're installing them in the proper circuit

Mine does not have separate lights for the 110 vs. 12 volt. The paperwork I saw says to remove the 110 lights and replace with 12 volt lights if you are going off battery. It even stated not to use higher than 45 watt bulbs. I guess I will try it with one 12 volt LED off battery power and hope it works.

My old Alaskan was wired as you describe. Pretty interesting when you forget to take out the 12 volt bulbs.

I'm thinking about trying these:

12v Fluorescent Spiral Bulb

Vintagetrailersupply has some for 12 bucks. Looks like conventional incandescent bulbs use 4 amps, where these draw 1.25A to operate. Has anyone experience with this style bulb?

Found these by searching for Edison screw 12v led ... looks like standard screw bases are E26 or E27.

This one has two available colors, lasts 50000hrs and draws .67A: E27 LED Bulb, 8W, 12 Volt AC/DC

I think a warm white over the table and a natural white over the stove might be the way to go in my NCO ... just have to make sure no one ever plugs 120 into the old girl before swapping them out.
