I read about this.  No chain saws, but several petrified spring boards and a single petrified axe.

The next two cell phone images were taken from a walk on the Cottonwood creek road in Utah. A steep climb led us to a place called yellow rock.

I heard the area was put under a stage 2 ban - they are concerned about petrified wildfires.
