I have a Yakima basket on the roof at the back where it is easy to reach. We use it occasionally for carrying bulky lightweight stuff. Mostly use it for carrying firewood from the park office to the campsite when we are using campgrounds that require you to purchase your firewood at the park. It's easy to throw a couple of bundles up there- keeps it out of the camper. We generally remove anything that's up there before we raise the roof if we are going to need it.
We also use the Yakima load bars for carrying canoes and kayaks from time to time. I like the Yakima stuff. I bought most of it off Craigslist for much less than new cost.
