A rare event that the snow reality is exceeding the forecast.

Home-Snow-091523.jpg

Forecast in the Winter Storm Warning was total of 7 - 14 inches by 4 a.m. Wednesday...well, as of 9 a.m. Monday I'v measured 15 inches (new) already on my deck, and it's still snowing hard.  Temperature is in the lower 20's (F), so not bad for clearing, so far.

I'll start by clearing the front steps...

Poor little car -- barely more than a bump in the snow...

..........................................

This latest "Warning" update says an additional 3 - 6 inches on top of current.  Well, if that's true it's gonna have to stop real quick.  <_<

Another storm is starting to hit the Bat Area and the SF & Peninsula should get maybe 3" plus of rain, but North Bay between 4" and EIGHT INCHES of rain.

This month when it snowed in the Sierras they measured each storm in FEET!

OK...now all that's left is 120 feet of driveway to shovel....

I wouldn't be whining -- I've lived here 40 years after all -- except that normal for Bend is maybe 6 inches of snow per storm or less.

I've been thinking of moving south... I was considering eastern CA, western NV -- somewhere south of Reno...but maybe I should consider Brownsville, TX

And back on Grandfather Mountain, NC, an all-time record gust was recorded at around midnight Sunday/Monday the 24th-25th:  A three second gust of 124 mph was recorded, besting the record of 121.7 mph recorded less than 2 weeks ago.

A question from an Easterner to those of you getting slammed with all this snow...

Will all this snow do anything to help the water levels in the reservoirs on the West coast or is that an issue further South and not affected by your snowfalls?

Eddie, as long as there isn’t an atmospheric river, aka Pineapple Express, that prematurely melts the snowpack, things should be much better. A friend from Southern Oregon told me they are at 105% of snowpack at the moment.
