Grandby will tailgate go up

I'm going to look at a 94 Grandby next week several hundred miles away. I have a 97 Ford F250 long bed and I'm wondering if I can leave the tailgate on and if it will close. If I get it may try to tie it down for the trip home and then drill the four holes to mount it. At least with it up it won't fall out.

Probably not unless there is margin on 96” in your bed with the tailgate closed. The floor length is 96”, figure some front clearance so it doesn’t rub on the front bed rail and rear clearance for the door trim and such you’re probably talking 100”.

The answer was 'no' for a '97 Grandby on a 91 Ford F250.
