Quick trip and one night at Big Trees, have not stayed there in years. $35.00 for a night is getting too much. I was told most everything higher was closed by snow. Found out later that Spicers was open, maybe next time. Still had a great time. Mosquito Lake was still covered. Lots of campers in Hermit Valley. Watch out for bicycles they were everywhere and had a death wish. That weekend was the Kiss of Death Ride a training ride for the Death ride on July 10. Stay off the passes that day they close Monitor and Ebbetts for hours. Saw two bears at Big Trees and 3 road kill deers.

Bill:
Looks like you had a great little trip, thanks for filling us in. Calaveras Big Trees is a great state park as is the drive up Ebbetts Pass. "The Kiss of Death", we were wondering what all the drinking water bottles stashed at the top of Monitor Pass was about, now we know. Happy Travels!
