Dirty Dog beat me to the post. Man he's fast. Anyway, here is another trip report on our experience in the Owyhee mountains and a little icing on the cake at the Owyhee river.

We pretty much just followed Dirty Dog around for the first 2 1/2 days.

After making the 6 1/2 hour drive out from Bend, OR.......

We finally arrived at Succor Creek to find DD had already located a perfect campsite right on the creek. He had carefully gone around and marked all the bushes to let other campers know it was ours....or maybe that was Diego.
Anyway, dinner was just about ready fresh out of the new dutch oven. Great timing. Camp was set and we settled in.

The canyon was beautiful during the day, but night wasn't bad either.

It was all great and we couldn't imagine it getting much better until we entered Leslie Gulch.

Wildflowers were in full Spring show-off mode and dotted the hillsides everywhere we looked.

Leslie Gulch which from an ex-rock climber's standpoint was nirvana. Gorgeous pocket rock with bizarre erosive patterns were everywhere.

Dirty Dog was in his element.......Just another day at the office.

At the bottom of Leslie Gulch is the original cabin that a Mr. Lesley ranched out of before being struck by lightening in the late 1800's. Wow, tough luck.

After leaving Leslie Gulch and passing through Silver City (which is gonna have to be another trip topic I think), my wife (aka 'beer wench') and I headed to the Owyhee river below the reservoir where, as promised, came the icing on the cake..........

Thanks for the TR Home Skillet. The shot of DD in his element is pretty typical of how he looks on a road trip.

the Owyhee river below the reservoir where, as promised, came the icing on the cake..........

Nice fish! Must be the big brown trout, er, uhm, sorry Ski3, I mean swig down stout that Eric was refering to. You should chase DD down to the eastern Sierras in a few weeks. Great fishing there.
