With regard the rust and corrosion problems with latches and external hardware/screws that were being discussed a while back, I have just come across a product (from my home country down under as it turns out) put out by the STAUN Company. Same outfit that makes the Staun Tire deflators!
Unlike the BoeShield T-9 previously mentioned, which can tend to leave a sticky residue if you have to apply it heavy, this stuff apparently works at a molecular level on a surface, and doesn't do that! It's called ...STAUN 329.
