Thank you everyone. The camper went on the truck today. My friend and I did create a small support with some 2x4s under the the camper as well as lay a rubber mat on the bed. I ended up with 3 inches of clearance which I am happy with, especially given the experience reported here. I very much appreciate the advice of everyone. The forum has been and continues to be a great resource for this newbie!
