We like to get over to Alaska at least every couple of years. This year we have nine days fishing around Petersburg, Alaska Planned. Will take the ferry from Haines, Ak., to Juneau, thne the fast ferry to Petersburg. Return we will go to Skagway, whitehorse and Home.
I rented a boat for 6 days and have anothe r5 days to travel around the ilsand.
Has anyone been there? Any places to visit or camp would be appreciated. We do not mind camping without any services.
Thanks

Robbie - We visited P'burg last summer and were very pleasantly surprised. In fact, knowing what we now know, we would have spent less time in Juneau and more time in P'burg. Stayed at a FS campground called Ohmer Creek about 20 miles south of town. Nice sites and few other campers. With a rig similar to yours (06 Tacoma Ext. Cab and an ATC Bobcat) we travelled all over the Island on logging roads. Did not have a boat, but did take a fabulous whale watching trip. The fact that the big cruise ships do not stop in P'burg made it very appealing to us. Small, friendly, picturesque, and relatively few people . . . . a perfect combination! We will return! BTW, are you Robbie from Watson Lake? - Richard
