Captain, I have the WAECO Compressor 110 Liter Refrigerator/Freezer 2-Way (AC/DC) which I think is the same as the Dometic. I have had no issues with mine like you mentioned and I have been on some rough roads:

Rainlr, I looked at the flush mount appliances when I ordered mine but the price was a no go for me. What other options did you order? There are a lot of things I would get first: screen door, compressor frig, arctic pac, FFan, dual batteries, Roth IRA :D they do look good though.

Hi Rotti, we ordered the self-contained model pre-wired for solar with a screen door, extra battery, and heater. I’ll add a fantastic fan later and solar panel after I have time to research. Should have by the end of the year. I think our first trip will be to Big Bend, can’t wait!

Flush-mounted appliances weren't an option when I ordered my Eagle. I've never felt the need to spend the $$$ on an upgrade. A cutting board covering the sink gives me more space (which I rarely need), and when the stove cover is closed, that is useable space as well. However, there's no denying that the flush-mounted ones look pretty slick. I think you would only be paying for the looks.

2010 Hawk with standard appliances and I have no issues with counter space for what we do in the camper. I did upgrade my facet though to get it higher and a bit out of the way. Made the sink more user friendly. If I was to re-buy my Hawk personally I would use that $600 on another upgrade and leave the appliances. YMMV.

I personally could do without the stove. I only use it to boil water in the morning, but I don't seem myself doing any serious cooking in the camper. The ideal situation would be a stove like I had in a tent camper that could be used inside, or clipped to the outside of the camper.

I have a 2008 Hawk with the older style stove and sink. My concerns about the flush mounted upgrades are that the sink may be smaller, haven't compared side by side, and the older stove has "wings" that enclose the stove and stop much of the spray or splatter of cooking food from getting all over the counter. This has been really nice when cooking messier food...bacon...hamburgers, etc..
Also, we routinely use the top of the stove when closed as counterspace. For instance, when we do dishes, the dirty ones go on the right side of the sink and a towel goes on top of the stove. When cleaned, we just stack the dishes on the stove and it works great. Stove is also very easy to take apart and clean.
