It's getting to be time for some desert wandering again, for those who enjoy DV it looks like the back roads have suffered quite a bit of damage from the summer monsoons. Lots of good info here:

For most of us Goler looks impassable and Saline will be a bit more sporty to get to.

Wow, some of those shots by D. Brenner (DVNP Ranger)of Goler are pretty discouraging!
Unfortunately, we have not yet visited this renowned area.

We will be looking to use N. or S. Pass later this winter for our annual visit to the springs.

Thanks for the updates, Sunni!

SunMan, I've been looking at these also. Thanks for posting this. It will be interesting to see the condition of the roads come winter. On another note, I'm curious what the narrow canyons look like.

A month or so back I read on Death Valley Talk that the North pass was ok exept for a point about 5 miles north
of the turn off from the Saline Valley Road to the springs. Article didn't say if the washout was above or below willow springs. There is a very deep canyon just north of Wiilow springs so wonder if that was the location of the washout ??

Does anyone know??

Not exactly sure where the washouts are but from what i have read there should be no issues for anyone here making it via the north pass, at least until the first heavy snow. Standard observations of RV sightings have been reported.

I don't use FB but there is now a page maintained by the park service as well...
