I'm heading on a 4 hour drive to look at an Alaskan cab over that looks to be in really great shape for its age (1989). The owner currently has it on an F-150. He advised it's a mini and said it's 7.5 feet long. This doesn't bother me as I have a short bed Dodge and want the shorter camper. I was just curious how long they had been making the minis as I originally thought they were designed for mid size pickups.

Anything special I should know about these? Any reason I would have issues with a 2008 Dodge Ram shortbed? Any issues with this model fitting in my truck (tail gate opening)?

Thanks

As far as I know the mini Alaska that fits the Tacoma etc came onto the scene within the last five years.

That's kind of what I thought. Maybe this was a custom job for the original owner.

He might be trying to say that it is a short-bed model? You should be able to easily tell if it was built to fit in a mid size bed, or if it was built for a full size truck.

It's definitely for a full size pickup. He has it on his F-150 now. I didn't know there was a model specifically for the short bed. I thought the choice was 8' or 10', discounting the mini.

I was just taking a guess, I do not know much about the Alaskan line. Just a little about the one for the Tacoma. Sorry.

Good luck with taking a look at this one. Let us know how it goes.
