Lighthawk - This is already cropped a little bit. The combination of my older 10 MP sensor and really a not very sharp lens makes any cropping/zooming look pretty soft. I dumped this older 24-85 lens from my film days for a new 16-85 VR version that was really perfect for my DX Nikons.

Still, it's a great capture.  Looks pretty sharp to me.

A few lizards shots from a quick weekend to DV.

Common Chuckwalla

At first I thought this fat lizard was dead.  The tail was pale yellow and the skin on the back looked deflated.  It didn't move, but I saw that it looked at me.  It let me approach,  but my angle was from behind.  When I tried to skirt for a better field of view it dashed off.  I've read they are good eating.

We've seen these from the Warner Mountains to Death Valley.  They will tolerate a slow approach.

Great shot. The call of those birds takes me right back to my childhood summers on the lake.

Lighthawk the Common Chuckwalla and the Common Collared Lizard are both nice shots. Kind of amazing how well the Collared Lizard's color blends with the rocks.

Sagebrush the Red wing is sharp as a tack, very nice shot. Ahh spring!

Buck # 47 ??

_DSC1770.jpg

This shaggy guy is in my backyard right now.  I wonder why he's tagged?

There are deer in my yard all the time (almost literally), but I've never seen one in my yard with a tag.

Most of the year the visible deer in the neighborhood are does, but I've been seeing a small gang of pre-antler (just nubs) bucks (like #47) for a couple of weeks.

Mark, nice sized buck.   Nice backyard!!!

I'm in the archives, feeling the need for a trip.   Here's a shot taken at one of my favorite Central Oregon locations...

That's a crisp shot of the woodpecker, Steven.  Great detail.

Good job filling the frame.
