I liked the look of this picture, Jan 2024. Beautiful weekend on Mt. Hood.

Great setup!

Bos, that location looks epic! How do you like your steps? I need to figure that out in the near term as my daughter is taking big blue and the alaskan to Tahoe in a coule weeks and... well, a set of stairs is preferable to my 24" ladder setup.

Steps are great, I'll admit they take a minute to unfold and setup, but I don't see it working out any other way. I made longer legs for them so I have more adjustment, and I also fooled around with making mounts that are lower down and farther out, essentially making the tailgate the first "step" instead of having it rest on the steps. The mounts proved to be just one more thing to mess around with, so I went back to this plan. Depending on terrain, sometimes that last step can be a big one.

They fold up and store in the 1 foot "bed" to the right of the back door, ratchet strap holds them in place for travel. Two wing nuts hold them on to some bolts through simple tabs I welded to the bumper. Perhaps a fold up/flop down situation would be more convenient mounting, I just haven't figured that out yet.
