Ski - thanks for another really excellent trip report. Your reports from Death Valley are like having another guide book for those of us who have not gotten there yet.

+1 on the guide book idea although a less labor intensive approach may be to generate an index based on area/region/features rather than chronological order for these excellent trip reports.  I'd rather that the Ski3pins continue to put their efforts into new trips with reports instead of slaving over a major rewrite.   :)  Don't know how one could do that index as the audience is primarily on WanderTheWest and the content is on blogspot.

Part 2 is awesome.

After I discovered Saline it is challenging to venture back to other parts of the park. I almost did the racetrack again on my last trip. After seeing those pics of the Ubehebe hike I'm sad I didn't. Your pics are amazing and show the context of what humans are in the big scheme of things.

At the top of Ubehebe if you turn right and go overland for a few hundred yards there is a copper mine shaft going into the mountain. Fantastic rocks of amazing colors are all around. I have to admit, Ubehebe is one outstanding hike. Nice write up.

2005 Reg Cab Dodge Diesel 4x4 6sp, far, far from stock. Gutted 4 wheel camper pop up, now a shell that rests on the bed rails. Rebuilt the interior, much simpler, far more user friendly.   Much better.

The geology of DV is so spectacular.

We have been there only once back in 06.Did I think it's Mabel Canyon in the western area off the west entrance road.

Saw some great rock colors. Was amazed at it than and viewing your photos brings back that time.

Thanks for the TR.

Frank

Nice photos Frank! The first one looks like Mosaic Canyon just above the first narrows. Nice to see that much snow  on Telescope.

I am not that familiar with the place but that sounds right.

It had a "M" name to it.

Just checked the map you are right on.It was a beautiful walk up the canyon.

I think we went as far as we could before hitting a "pour-over"

We also walked around the artist area..It was March of 06 and a lot of flowers were out.

Thanks for your ride along, they are always great.

Ski you continue to set the benchmark for trip reports. Sounds like you could have a retirement job leading tours.
