Hardcastle,

I'm sure you'll see lots of flowers.  FYI the road to Toroweap from Colorado City is in great shape, recently graded.  Road to Whitmore is graded down to the Bar10.  Have fun!

Thanks for the info. Where did you spot that tortoise? I've spent a lot of time in the desert and have never come across one.

The tortoise was in an area a little SW of Beatty NV that is almost in DVNP but not quite.  Was exploring that area one fall and on a hike we saw lots of burrows that we were sure were from tortoises.  Went back one April and saw 2 tortoises then saw one again on this trip.  Like you we spend a lot of time in the desert and this is the only place we've seen them.

Neat. We were just in that area a few weeks ago coming back from Utah. Sadly we did no have the time for Tuweep so we opted for a night at Crazy Jug out of Fredonia. Incredible views but nothing near what you saw at the Toroweap Overlook.

It really hurt to be so close to someplace we've wanted to go so badly and not have time.  So, thanks for the salt in the wound!! :)

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I especially like the shot with the camper down in the canyon. I've been to Toroweap/Tuweep but need to check out that place next time.
