Following Teds advice we camped up in Whitney portal at lone pine the first night and it was great, they had a bear visit last month. The Alabama hills had that Fred flinstone feel with the way the rocks were formed and it was a little hot during the day. We did drove up to the lake, Rock creek and Big meadow but the only open site was in Rock creek and the sites were to close together for me. I would have been sleeping 10ft away from the next guy.We ended up staying at French camp site #72 on the second night , you could hear the creek and the site was great. The next day we drove up to the White Mountains and the Bristlecone Forest that place was so cool and high. Thanks for the advice and a great site for camping sorry I don't have a FWC on the truck.

I forgot how pretty the Eastern Sierra's can be, it would be nice to catch it with some snow. The camp host said Lone pine is shutting down October 20th. My truck averaged just under 15 mpg and thats keeping it around 60/65 on cruise control.

I try and get up their every Fall when the colors are changing and to hit the end of the fishing season. Do you have the 6.0 or the 7.3 PSD ?? I too have found the sweet spot to be 60-65 mph.

tread lightly.

I have the 6.0, I try to keep the rpm around 1800/2000 and 60/65mph so far that seems the best.
