Has anyone mounted a 10' fly rod carrier sideways on a Four Wheel camper? Roof mounting is out of reach once popped up.

Made my own with plastic tool box, 2 - 10' sections of 1-1/2" pvc pipe, and soft pipe wrap inside. Fabricated aluminum angle and flat stock to drivers side jack brackets.PXL_20201103_233819340.jpeg IMG_20200927_165601.jpeg

Thanks, I think the side jack brackets will be part of the solution. Good to see that you found the space.

I used longhorn's idea, but mounted the plastic ammo box vertically. I also cut the PVC tubes in half and screwed them back together with PVC connectors to allow disassembly and easy storage in the winter. It works great, more labor than dollars, but pretty easy to do if you take your time.

Larryqp, thanks, I see that you turned the angle iron out for three sides of a square. That will be key to what I am trying to do!

Yep,

I used 80/20 extruded aluminum to create brackets running between the jack mounts.  Ive had my rod vault, ski racks, even a bike mount on there.  Works great.

I’d like to see a close up of how you used the 80/20 if you can...thanks.

Actually, I used square aluminum tubing to attach the rod holder to the jack buckets, not angle iron. I wanted to make sure it was very strong for off road travel, might be over kill, but the rods cost much more than the 1" tubing.
