Rob,if you might be a fan of Linda Ronstadt she has a new book called Feels Like Home.

A story about her ancestors who settled the Sonoran  area of Mexico.

She is a good friend of Rick Bayless and the book had her family recipes.

It's a nice quick read.

We have a couple of Rick Bayless cookbooks. We made authentic (according to Rick) Mole five or six times -- it is a lot of work -- kind of a day long effort each time.

We look forward to your after action report. Have a great time!

We just got back from 12 days in baja. in and out thru mexacali.  if you are unsure of places to visit/camp, i would highly recommend the camps/rv parks.   at them, we met a ton of other campers, and got some excellent on the ground advice on where to go and what to do.

at the bigger rv locations they have locals that come thru and sell all sorts of prepared food - tamales, empanadas, etc - which were great. and fresh fish.

we at at local cantinas most of the time, the cost is low, and quality is high.

i made a recommendation on todd gru's baja post about a great camp spot on the pacific side, north of guerrero negra. great beach and people.

have fun - we had no security concerns on our visit, and did not hear of any.

Well all will be revealed on the blog link but thought I'd post a photo of a real pop up camper. Great for those crowded campgrounds or bird watching. I am amazed someone hasn't put one of these together! That said it would be your last nighttime pee if you forgot and stepped out for a minute.

Howdy Buckland

I assume you are somewhere in the Southwest....and good for you !

I wanted to mention that there appears to be shaping up a very good wildflower bloom due to abundant rains in late winter.

Encourage you to try to see at least some of the desert blooms....truly a natural spectacle.

David

Great recommendation. We are trying to decide how much we can see in late March and early April. A lot to choose from: Death Valley, Organ Pipe, SE Arizona and many places in between.
