We look forward to the pics!

Frankly I barely took the camera out but I am thinking others were more on the ball than I. Here are a few. Of course food is always a part of a gathering, as are discussion of gas vs. diesel. I think takes care of both:

Cottonwood Campground, no generators allowed, we had shirt sleeve weather for a few days then a bit cooler.

Javelinas http://www.desertusa...u_collpecc.html are abundant and usually pretty harmless, while not true pigs they could be a source of bacon???

Here is one of my guys thinking about that bacon.

After a few days at Cottonwood I ended up at Croton Springs, no one else around, they have lots of nice backcountry spots, I checked out most via the bike.

Stew hiked in the high country, I did a little exploring in the desert and this is a bit of the very limited H2O, note the salts, not real tasty.

This year I had 4 dogs, one available for adoption!! Here is my BC enjoying the late afternoon at Croton.

Maybe Mike and Stew will add more.

I usually go to BB each January so start thinking about joining in. Hell I may go next month again :) The backcountry sites are pretty accessible and offer seclusion and awesome views.

It was great to meet-up with barko1 and Stew. This was my first time in Big Bend, and I hope to return. So without further ado, some pics.

I found BB NP to be a great place to experience the desert Southwest. It was familiar yet different. A little like the Mohave, Death Valley and Joshua Tree.

A very unique feature is the Chisos Basin. It is an island in the desert with it's own fauna and flora. The small deer are isolated and are a found only in BB and a mountain range in Mexico. (The name escapes me).

I now have some pictures posted in the gallery and will see if I can get them moved over here.IMG_1110 med.jpg

What we liked most about Big Bend was the long empty roads with campsites spaced far from each other.

The rock formations were also rather amazing.

But how do I move pictures from the gallery to the forum and have them come up without having to click on the address?
